Our PFGF volunteers also took the lead in providing captains to eleven sites in the Heights

& other Jersey City Neighborhoods. What an outstanding effort!!

The fruits of our labor have not gone unnoticed; with the JC Parks Coalition winning $10,000 in the

Our Annual Holiday Tricky Tray Fundraising Dinner was held at Gino's Restaurant on Central Ave. We had an excellent turnout, the food was delicious; the company outstanding. This year we hosted our most successful fundraiser due to the generosity of our members and local merchants. We were fortunate to have the support of the following merchants: Central Ave Liquors, LuLu's Hair Zone, Podewitz Deli, Rite Aid, Radio Shack, and Stop & Shop. Our members created unique and artistic baskets.  Jewelry designer Maureen Gallagher donated two beautiful necklaces & Cathy King's beautiful handmade pottery was a big hit again this year. Our tables were adorned by lovely holiday motif floral arrangements donated by AJ Barringtons. Patrick and Brandon Ambrossi assisted us in drawing our winning tickets & delivering the prizes.   We are thankful for the support of members from our local neighborhood groups including Riverview Neighborhood Association, Washington Park Association and the Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association.  We had a fun and profitable night ringing in the holiday season!

Saturday, October 22, 2011 was National Make a Difference Day, a nationwide effort of volunteerism that engages all communities to plan and execute a one-day project that will impact their neighborhood, their community, their city. The Jersey City Parks Coalition (JCPC), in conjunction with the City of Jersey City, organized the BIG DIG as part of this initiative by planting 18,000 flowering bulbs with hundreds of volunteers throughout Jersey City's parks, open spaces and gateways. Pershing Field Garden Friends, a member of JCPC, enthusiastically participated in this event. Our planting was co-captained by Patricia O'Hanlon and Patrick Mangini. Along with our adult volunteers, we were fortunate to have student volunteers from PS 25, PS 27, MS 4, McNair High School, Academy 1, and Clifton High SchoolAdditionally, Pershing Fields Garden Friends' members captained 9 other sites throughout the Heights & Journal Square. It was an amazing day of volunteerism which will have long reaching positive effects throughout the Heights and Jersey City.
