April 12TH, 2010-Jersey City
The second Spring Festival of Children will be held on
Saturday, May 22nd, from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Van Vorst Park, on Montgomery Street at
Jersey
Avenue. The event is open to the entire community, and there
is no
admission charge.
The first Spring Festival of Children, which was held on May
30th,
2009, at Van Vorst Park, was a great success, bringing
together
families and children with educators, museums, city
institutions like
the Public Library, community organizations and small
businesses and
uniting them as one community. It was a delightful event,
offering
concerts, drama, dance shows and workshops as well as a
gardening tour
provided by the Friends of Van Vorst Park.
This year public, charter and private schools will present
live music,
drama, and much more. Student artwork will be for sale, and
sponsors will offer interesting workshops and shows. Representatives from
museums will be on hand with information about their latest exhibitions.
The organizers invite other community organizations and
businesses
related to children's education, arts and wellness--
including music,
arts, sports, yoga, dance, languages, health and special
education-- to
participate in the event and inform area residents about
their work.
(Display spaces are available at $75 till May 1st
and $100 after for a one or two table- space. Participants must provide their
own tables and/or display materials. All income from the vendors will be
donated to Learning Community Charter School and Friends of Van Vorst Park. For
more information, please contact Ozgun Tasdemir at ozgun@tourcom.com
