     The Coalition aspires to build a great city-wide organization that sets the standard for and spreads the principles of democracy through community  empowerment  and the principles of world-class park management for the betterment of all residents.

     The Coalition is committed to sustaining this operating model to provide a legacy for future generations of Jersey City residents and park & public space users.

     The Jersey City Parks Coalition  is  a  private,  not-for-profit  501(c)(3)  organization founded in 2004 that assists in  the  development  and  maintenance  of  Jersey  City's parks and public spaces as  listed  with the Federal Government of the  United States of America. 

     Thanks to the generosity of many individuals, corporations,  foundations,  Hudson County and the City of Jersey City, the Coalition  has,  just  from  2006  to the present, raised  and  invested more than a half million dollars into our City's parks and public spaces, making it a model for urban park & public space renewal & creation.

On October 22,2011, the Jersey City Parks Coalition planted 18,000 tulip & as part of our National Make a Difference Day project called the BIG DIG. That day was outstanding with 600 volunteers planting at 80 locations throughout the City.This initiative, produced one of the most extensive City wide volunteer efforts ever seen including State, County and City parks, Park and Community groups, Scouts, Students, Civic organizations, Non-profits and Businesses. The result is the 2012 beautification of Jersey City from end to end encouraging continued community involvement with the Greening of Jersey City. The fruits of our labor are now in full bloom!

As the year comes to an end, the Jersey City Parks Coalition (JCPC) reflects upon its accomplishments of 2011 and looks forward to a fruitful 2012. There was nothing more rewarding for the Coalition this year than our BIG DIG initiative as part of National Make a Difference Day,held on October 22, 2011. This project truly embodied the nationwide effort of volunteerism which engages communities to plan and execute a one-day project that will impact their neighborhood, their community, their city.
Through the efforts of over 600 volunteers, the generosity of corporate sponsors and our partnership with the City of Jersey City, the JCPC exceeded its goal for this initiative, producing one of the most extensive City wide volunteer efforts ever seen by planting 18,200 flowering bulbs throughout the City. The spring 2012 calliope of color will be the kick-off celebration of the Coalition's 2012 Spring Planting Days, continuing to forge collaboration between our City and the Jersey City Parks Coalition, encouraging active participation of residents with the continued beautification of their local parks and public spaces. The Jersey City Parks Coalition successfully completed its Annual Spring Plantings in seven of its member parks.  This project was made possible through a partnership with Goldman Sachs, a proud partner of the Coalition since 2004 and our numerous neighborhood volunteers, local students and the Jersey City and Hudson County Divisions of Parks and Forestry.
